For years I’ve always wondered what it’d look like, how it’d feel; what it‘d taste like.. well, maybe not that last one, but you get what I’m saying. More so than any other superhero team, I have always wanted to see a film wherein the iconic heroes of my childhood fought together against any evildoer who might threaten our planet. Yes, there were the cartoons that served to temporarily quench my thirst, but with heroes such as Ironman, Hulk, Thor, & Captain America coming together in the Avengers film, I couldn’t help but wonder when my favorite heroes would get their chance to stand in the sun. Well, that time has arrived

So, it’s been an interesting news cycle for fans of comic book films. I imagine, by now, we’ve all heard the news regarding the Joker origin film, which will take place outside of the established DCEU (Man of Steel, Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League) and feature a new actor, in lieu of Jared Leto. Then there’s the additional news that Matt Reeves’ The Batman will also be outside of the DCEU, and that Ben Affleck will not be playing the role of the Dark Knight in the film. In fact, I’m sure by the time I get around to posting this a Robin film will be announced with a brand new actor. I’m kidding, but you get my point – strange things are happening over at Warner Bros. these days. But, oddly enough, while many are groaning and griping over the news, I have found a way to channel the House of El and maintain a sense of Hope. I’ll explain.

And, don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this. I, for one, enjoy those little moments, as they often take me by surprise - in a good way. But, there are times when I can’t help but wonder what it would be like if these cameos didn’t occur. What if there was only one superhero in the world? If Tony Stark was the only person saving the world? Or if Midgard was only under the protection of Thor? What if these heroes were always left to save the world on their own – without the help of a collective or ensemble of other heroes? While Marvel may not have answers to this question – DC seems to. why i don’t understand the praise behind wonder woman!
So, let’s talk about Wonder Woman. As the latest installment in the far from perfect DCEU, this film had a fair amount riding on it. Not only was it the first live-action film made about this especially iconic female Super Hero, but also because the credibility of the DCEU as a whole somewhat hinged on this film being successful. Luckily for the DCEU and Warner Bros., their prayers were answered and Wonder Woman not only met their expectation, but exceeded them.
